2023-24 Opioid Sub-Grantee
Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters (YCBBBS) is a donor and volunteer-supported organization. Founded in 1971, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters currently serves 300+ youth. YCBBBS’s service area encompasses 20 communities and 65 schools throughout Yavapai County and Sedona.
YBBBS believes every young person has the potential to succeed and thrive. As part of the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, we create meaningful, monitored matches between adult mentors (“Bigs”) and youth up to age 24 (“Littles”). Research shows that youth with a Big are more likely to perform better in school, avoid risky behaviors, and build stronger relationships with family and peers.
how the funds were used
In 2023–2024, Yavapai County Big Brothers Big Sisters used opioid reinvestment funds to provide specialized training for 19 staff members. The training focused on identifying the warning signs of substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder (OUD), equipping staff with the knowledge and tools to better support the youth and families they serve.
YCBBBS had 19 staff members trained to recognize signs of substance use and opioid use disorder.
